300 Spartans Vs 3000 Romans
300 Spartans take on 3000 Roman Urban Cohorts. Rome: Total war, is an RTS game focused on the Roman era, hence the name. Campaign is pretty fun since you can play as other factions like Macedon, the Greek City States, Egypt, Germania, Gual and much more. Although a tiny bit unpopulated the Multilayer is addictive, choose any faction and upgrade your troops depending on how much money, aka Denarii, the ‘host’ of the game sets it to be. I believe its about $5 or $10 on Steam and there is a demo if you want to try it first. Also yes I know in Real Life Romans would win with these numbers, BUT this is a video game! I pretty much made it to where the spartans wouldnt lose, if you disapprove then buy the game and make your own battles.

@kobinks the testuda formation sucked in close quaters fighting it only worked against archers and the whole point is that he upgraded spartans 2 the max in dis and left the chohorts at the least its so yh and if a spartan and a chorot got into a fight spartan would win any day

Just to calm everything down, it’s an AI. It’s a moronic program, not a real person playing on the Roman side. Second, the Romans FROWNED upon cavalry, and RARELY used archers. But any if real Roman general would see how tight they were packed together on the Spartan side, he would archer the crap out of them.

First of all, it’s a video about a GAME. Secondly, how do you think a squadron of roman cavalry would fare when charging head on into a pike wall. Also what would the *testudo* do against pikes, it was a defensive formation to protect them against arrows, not spears.

This is a glitch in the game where the spears extend to the bridge and the steep decline into the river counts as an ‘extremely steep hill’, so pretty much even if you hadn’t upgraded your spartans with gold stats and everything and/or used normal hoplites it would have still worked. It also would not have worked against non-AI because a human would use the pila (spears) and your phalanx would be broken after a bit of cycling back and forth.
