Not that I am a perfectionist, but Spartans had heavy bronze shields and weapons, and I am assuming those shields on 4:04 are either wooden or rough iron…

Well, Paul Carteledge’s version was interesting but far from accurate. A lot of his claims, especially on the relationship between spartan warriors were assumptions based not on historical evidence or fact. Read “History of Ancient Sparta”, Sarantos Kargakos to get a more accurate account. I believe its has been translated into English. If you do not grasp the ancient language and its differences to modern Greek you can easily fall into modern day misconceptions and erroneous interpretations.

These videos do well to bolster they romantic myth of the Spartans. No doubt the information here is accurate, but the video glosses over, or completely neglects the more controversial aspects of Spartan society. If you really want to learn about the Spartans read Paul Carteledge, “The Spartans.”

@asdasdasshole wrong, read your history, particularly Paul Carteledges’ book “the Spartans” It’s quite clear that homo relations between men and young boys from the age of 12 were the norm. Although the relationship was much more complex than just sexual.

@spartanruler1 It was almost 20,000 Persion killed with just 30 Spartans killed in the first 2 days, at thermopolye 300 died but about 15,000 persions were slaughtered! THIS IS SPARTA!
